Expect mainly hot and dry conditions today across the area as a
strong upper level ridge remains just to our north. However,
isolated showers and a few thunderstorms are possible across the
Northwest Hill Country this afternoon. Highs will be in the mid 90s
to around 102 across the Big Country. Please follow heat safety
precautions including drinking water. Expect warm and humid
conditions tonight with lows in the upper 60s and 70s.

.LONG TERM...
(Tuesday through Sunday)

On Tuesday, an upper level ridge will be centered across the
Southern Plains. This will result in hot and dry conditions across
the area. Highs will be in the mid 90s to near 102 with overnight
lows in the 70s to near 80.

As we head into Wednesday, an upper level ridge will become centered
across the Southwest United States, with another upper level ridge
centered across the Southeast United States. Thursday into the
weekend, the Southeast U.S. ridge will weaken while the ridge to our
west strengthens. This will result in a continuation of the hot and
generally dry conditions. The one caveat is that both the GFS and
ECMWF are indicating a cold front into Oklahoma and north Texas late
Wednesday into Thursday. If this front can track a bit farther
south, this could bring a chance of showers and thunderstorms to the
area, especially across our northern counties. For now, have kept
rain chances between 15 and 20 percent across the Big Country as
confidence remains low. Above normal temperatures will continue
through this time frame with highs in the mid 90s to near 104 and
overnight lows in the 70s.
