The first of several days with near record to record high
temperatures expected. Upper level low over the West Coast of the
US is helping strengthen the upper level ridge building over the
Southern Plains. Low level thermal ridge continues to build, with
highs this afternoon climbing well into the 80s. Forecast is for
84 degrees at both San Angelo and Abilene this afternoon, with the
records for the day at Abilene being 85 (1944) and San Angelo
being 87 (1924).

...Record or near record highs Friday into Sunday...

An extended warming period continues into the first half of next
week, as upper ridging builds over the region. Temperatures could
get equal or exceed record highs, particularly Friday into Sunday.
Abilene forecast highs Fri-Sun are 88/88/86 (records 84/85/86) and
San Angelo`s forecast highs Fri-Sun are 86/85/88 (records 88/86/87).

Temperatures toward the middle of the week expected to get slightly
cooler with highs in the 70s, with possible cold front late Tuesday
along with chance of rain Wednesday with lift of moisture over
the front.
