This information results in an extension of the start and end points, a slight relocation of the center of the path, and an increase in maximum path width. .Overview...Tornado producing supercell thunderstorms developed during the late evening hours of March 14th across portions of Southwest Arkansas along a northeast to southwest oriented dryline. These storms produced a tornado in southern Hempstead County and another tornado in southern Nevada County. ...Tornado #1: Southern Hempstead County, AR... Rating: EF1 Estimated Peak Wind: 100 mph Path Length /statute/: 8.94 miles Path Width /maximum/: 525 yards Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 2 Start Date: 03/14/2025 Start Time: 10:09 PM CDT Start Location: 4 W Patmos / Hempstead County / AR Start Lat/Lon: 33.5242 / -93.6464 End Date: 03/14/2025 End Time: 10:28 PM CDT End Location: 6 NNE Patmos / Hempstead County / AR End Lat/Lon: 33.5945 / -93.5235 Survey Summary: At approximately 10:09pm local time, a tornado touched down on County Road 5 in Hempstead County, Arkansas near the intersection with County Road 160 and Hempstead 161 W. Large branches on trees were snapped, along with a few uprooted trees in this area. The tornado then moved slightly northeast, passing just north of Hempstead 161W before then crossing Highway 29 S where the tornado continued to produce tree damage along with structural damage to several residences, mainly damage to roofing. As the tornado continued east, it damaged more structures, with a home experiencing roof damage, along with a camper and cattle trailer thrown approximately 100 yards from their original position. Extensive tree damage was visible to the east from the backyard of the residence, indicating that the tornado continued in this direction, heading towards County Road 150. Off of County Road 150, a mobile home was completely destroyed, injuring the two residents inside. The roof and walls of the mobile home were separated from the undercarriage and moved from the original position. The tornado continued its path to the east northeast, crossing Little Bodcaw Creek before damaging the roof of another residence off of County Road 57. The tornado would persist another several miles, mainly uprooting trees and snapping branches as it passes near the intersection of County 8 road and Hempstead 3, then County Road 134 and County Road 52. The tornado then lifted as it approached HWY 32 around 10:28pm local time. ...Tornado #2: Nevada County, AR... Rating: EF2 Estimated Peak Wind: 115 mph Path Length /statute/: 13.68 miles Path Width /maximum/: 1263 yards Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0 Start Date: 03/14/2025 Start Time: 10:55 PM CDT Start Location: 3 NW Rosston / Nevada County / AR Start Lat/Lon: 33.62 / -93.3252 End Date: 03/14/2025 End Time: 11:09 PM CDT End Location: 2 SE Bluff City / Nevada County / AR End Lat/Lon: 33.6872 / -93.1076 Survey Summary: High-resolution Planet satellite NDVI difference imaging indicates this tornado began in a wooded area north of Nevada CR 289 and west of US Hwy 371. The tornado touched down in moved northeast here damage to vegetation was noted, mainly in the form of large branches broken and a few uprooted trees. More damage around the intersection of County Road 432 and County Road 45. Here, major loss of roof panels was noted on several small barns and outbuildings. The tornado continued to track a few miles northeast, passing near Dills Mills and surrounding forested land before strengthening and passing along Highway 299, north of its intersection with County Road 47. This stretch of highway, between County Road 47 and County Road 423 features extensive damage to trees, with numerous trees snapped and uprooted, some of which fell on several homes. The tornado reached its peak intensity in this area, with winds speeds of around 115 mph. The tornado continued east/northeast across County Road 424 where more tree damage was found. The tornado s track continued into White Oak Lake State Park where additional tree damage was found, causing all hiking trails in the Park to be temporarily closed. Per Planet NDVI difference analysis, the damage continued east into Ouachita County and the NWS LZK CWA just south of White Oak Lake. Path distance in the NWS SHV CWA was 13.67 miles. Total path length was 14.83 miles.Utilized imagery and derived products made available through the NASA Commercial Satellite Data Acquisition (CSDA) Program, NASA Marshall Space Flight Center, and the NASA Disasters Program.
