Rating: EF1 Estimated Peak Wind: 95 mph Path Length /statute/: 6.13 miles Path Width /maximum/: 472 yards Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0 Start Date: 03/28/2025 Start Time: 01:48 PM CDT Start Location: 9 WSW Huxley / Shelby County / TX Start Lat/Lon: 31.7024 / -94.0336 End Date: 03/28/2025 End Time: 02:03 PM CDT End Location: 8 W Huxley / Shelby County / TX End Lat/Lon: 31.7827 / -94.0207 Survey Summary: This EF1 tornado developed from a mini-supercell and initially began southwest of Shelbyville near the Hurstown community at the intersection of TX Hwy 87 and CR 2130. Here, the tornado removed a few metal roof panels from some chicken houses and snapped and uprooted a few trees. The tornado moved northward snapping and uprooting more trees along CR 2130. More snapped hardwood and softwood trees were noted as the tornado crossed CR 2625, CR 2635, and Farm-to-Market Road 2694. The tornado finally lifted along Forest Service Road 143 just south of Farm-to-Market Road 417. Despite a relatively weak velocity couplet on the KSHV WSR- 88D, the damage path was well observed in the vicinity of a TDS in the correlation coefficient data. .Tornado #2: Northern Caddo Parish Tornado... Rating: EF0 Estimated Peak Wind: 85 mph Path Length /statute/: 8.93 miles Path Width /maximum/: 450 yards Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0 Start Date: 03/28/2025 Start Time: 03:33 PM CDT Start Location: 3 ESE Vivian / Caddo Parish / LA Start Lat/Lon: 32.8615 / -93.9394 End Date: 03/28/2025 End Time: 03:53 PM CDT End Location: 2 WSW Ida / Caddo Parish / LA End Lat/Lon: 32.9895 / -93.9333 Survey Summary: Around 8:33pm CDT on March 28th, 2025, a small supercell was moving northward across Caddo Parish to the south of the towns of Vivian and Hosston. The storm began to rotate and produced a tornado debris signature (TDS) on the dual polarization radar product, correlation coefficient (CC) just west of Centerville Rd and South of HWT 2 near Black Bayou Lake. This indicates that debris was lofted from the circulation, although the damage survey team was unable to locate any visual damage near the initial TDS in this location. Therefore, an EF-Unknown (EFU) rating was given in this area. The tornado then crossed HWY 2 around 8:35pm CDT and moved along an unnamed/unpaved roadway just to the south of Black Bayou Lake. The EFU rating was continued in this area given the persistent TDS signature on radar despite no visual evidence of damage. The tornado then passed over Black Bayou Lake around 8:40 pm CDT before then reaching Rudd Rd and Ed Rd on the north-central side of the Lake around 8:42 pm CDT. Here there was evidence of physical damage to trees in the form of large branches broken and several uproots, indicative of winds around 75-80 mph. The tornado moved due north along Rudd Rd to the intersection of Wynn School Rd where additional tree damage was found. By 8:45 pm CDT, the tornado reached Mira Myrtis Rd where the most extensive damage was found. Along this road, especially between Wynn School Rd and Hosston Rodessa Rd S there were several trees uprooted, large branches broken, and structural damage to a garage/shed next to a home where the roof of the shed was damaged. Based on the extent of the roof damage and the surrounding area, wind speeds were estimated at high-end EF0 around 85 mph. The tornado continued northward, with minimal damage found, but evidence of a continued weak TDS signature, prompting another EFU rating. By 8:50 pm CDT the tornado was located north of Tyson Rd and near or along Atlanta Mira Rd where additional tree damage was noted. Thereafter, around 8:53 pm CDT, the tornado appeared to have lifted, with no additional damage found and no indication of a continued TDS signature. In addition, radar velocity data indicated weakening circulation as the storm continued towards the Louisiana/Arkansas border. && EF Scale: The Enhanced Fujita Scale classifies tornadoes into the following categories: EF0.....65 to 85 mph EF1.....86 to 110 mph EF2.....111 to 135 mph EF3.....136 to 165 mph EF4.....166 to 200 mph EF5.....>200 mph NOTE: The information in this statement is preliminary and subject to change pending final review of the events and publication in NWS Storm Data. $$ 09/88/23/10
