Rating: EF1 Estimated Peak Wind: 95 mph Path Length /statute/: 4.40 miles Path Width /maximum/: 300 yards Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0 Start Date: 04/30/2025 Start Time: 02:23 PM CDT Start Location: 1 WSW Lockesburg / Sevier County / AR Start Lat/Lon: 33.9668 / -94.1971 End Date: 04/30/2025 End Time: 02:29 PM CDT End Location: 3 NE Lockesburg / Sevier County / AR End Lat/Lon: 33.9989 / -94.1326 Survey Summary: A strong line of thunderstorms moving across Sevier County in far southwest Arkansas during the early afternoon hours on April 30th produced an EF-1 tornado near Lockesburg. The tornado initially touched down just south of State Highway 24 about 1.6 miles west of Lockesburg where it caused significant damage to a small shed type structure. The tornado then tracked northeast across State Highway 24, evident from snapped and uprooted trees along the way. Thankfully a home just on the north side of the highway was spared from any damage despite trees falling all around it. This was the first location as well that it became clear that the damage we were seeing was tornadic. While most of the trees were laying down to the northeast, a few of them had fallen to the west or northwest. In addition, a trampoline and small playground were blown about 50 yards directly to the west from their original location. The road network became sparse past this point, but drone footage suggested that the damage path continued from the home to where we were able to pick it back up along Wildwood Road and Hilltop Road where a number of trees were uprooted and snapped. The tornado did cause a significant amount of damage to 3 chicken coops located just north of Hilltop Road and while these are not a significant damage indicator, there were a number of trees that were damaged in this area as well. The tornado then tracked across Shady Lane just to the north of Hilltop Road where it uprooted what was probably the largest tree I have ever seen uprooted, thankfully there was no damage to the home where this tree fell. On the west side of Shady Lane, a small home did sustain damage from a large tree falling on it, thankfully no one was home at the time the tree fell on the home. The tornado continued to track to the northeast, crossing over N Park Ave, Elm Drive, and eventually crossing Highway 71 north of Lockesburg. This is where things begin to be more sparse due to the road network in the area, however, we did find more damage on Montgomery Lane just east of Highway 71. The next location we were able to find damage on the ground was on Provo Road to the east of Big Timber Lane where a few small trees were down. Thankfully we were able to see drone footage that confirmed to us that the tornado continued from Montgomery Lane to this location on Provo Road. At this point, we believe the tornado lifted as no additional damage was found along the way. Special thanks to the Sevier County Sheriff`s Office and the Sevier County Office of Emergency Management for their assistance in completing this survey and for helping the process with their drone efforts. && .Wind Damage #1: Foreman Wind Damage in Little River County, AR... Rating: TSTM/Wind Estimated Peak Wind: 90 mph Path Length /statute/: 5.82 miles Path Width /maximum/: 650 yards Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0 Start Date: 04/30/2025 Start Time: 02:01 PM CDT Start Location: 1 SSW Foreman / Little River County / AR Start Lat/Lon: 33.7044 / -94.4058 End Date: 04/30/2025 End Time: 02:10 PM CDT End Location: 5 ENE Foreman / Little River County / AR End Lat/Lon: 33.7483 / -94.3194 Survey Summary: As a strong line of thunderstorms moved across Little River County in far southwest Arkansas it produced a approximately 6 mile long swath of damaging wind gusts, with max wind speeds estimated at 80 to 90 mph that started in the Lime Rock Hill area just south of Foreman, AR and continued into the Gum Flats to the northeast of Foreman. The first damage observed was along Highway 108 W between South 1st Street and South Bell Street where decent number of large trees were either uprooted, snapped or had large branches fall off them. Sporadic damage similar to this continued northeastward, crossing Highway 41 South. From here damage was picked up again along Highway 108 east of Foreman across County Road 51 North to County Road 153. It was noted that a vast majority of the tree damage was oriented to the northeast and not convergent, which helped us clarify this damage was from straight line winds and not a tornado. Special thanks to the Little River Arkansas Office of Emergency Management and especially the Chief of the Foreman Volunteer Fire Department who assisted greatly in the survey efforts. && EF Scale: The Enhanced Fujita Scale classifies tornadoes into the following categories: EF0.....65 to 85 mph EF1.....86 to 110 mph EF2.....111 to 135 mph EF3.....136 to 165 mph EF4.....166 to 200 mph EF5.....>200 mph NOTE: The information in this statement is preliminary and subject to change pending final review of the event and publication in NWS Storm Data. $$ 33/10
