Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Southwest Arkansas...
Northwest Louisiana...East Texas...and Extreme Southeast Oklahoma
National Weather Service Shreveport LA
113 AM CDT Wed Aug 13 2025

.DISCUSSION...

A hot, humid, but unsettled weather pattern will continue today through
the upcoming weekend, as an upper level disturbance will approach the area
and linger near an upper level ridge of high pressure that will near
the region from the west. As a result, afternoon temperatures will climb into
the mid and upper 90s each day over much of the area, with heat indices nearing
or exceeding 105 degrees each day. However, scattered showers and thunderstorms
should develop prior to daybreak this morning over portions of Northeast Texas,
Southeast Oklahoma, and extreme Southwest Arkansas, before eventually expanding
east across the remainder of the area through the day as a weak upper level
disturbance drifts east into the Ozarks, Southeast Oklahoma, and North Texas.
While these storms should gradually diminish this evening with the loss of
heating, additional isolated redevelopment will again be possible late tonight
across portions of the area, before again expanding areawide through the
afternoon Thursday. This weakness aloft will linger over the area through the
upcoming weekend, even as upper ridging builds east into Oklahoma and Arkansas,
as well as the Northern Gulf. Although 20ft winds will remain generally light
each day, locally gusty winds and brief heavy rainfall will be possible in and
near the storms that develop each day.
