Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Southwest Arkansas...
Northwest Louisiana...East Texas...and Extreme Southeast Oklahoma
National Weather Service Shreveport LA
211 PM CDT Sun Aug 3 2025

.DISCUSSION...

Our muggy mid 70 dew points reside right on the western fringe of
our TX zones which is where the backdoor (NE wind) cold front ran
out of gas. Right now, storms in the metroplex have eyes for more
eastern locales and the outflow from this activity may end up
bringing a storm or two into our western fringe areas late this
evening or maybe just before sunrise. Either way it`s more
welcome rainfall, but the bulk of our area is too stable and mixed
out drier with falling 60 dew points in SW AR and NW LA with lower
RH mins. This chance for rainfall is tied to a weak low of KN/MO
tonight with light NW flow aloft. Most of us will take more time
to soup-up with the muggy SE winds set to return the Gulf
moisture inland by midweek. So sea breeze activity will not amount
to much by midweek, but will move farther northward each day into
the weekend. The next cool front now appears to fall short of the
deep south and wash out over the southern plains. As a result our
temps will rebound to average and a little above with more heat
index concerns mid to late week. The dog days of summer loom.
