Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Southwest Arkansas...
Northwest Louisiana...East Texas...and Extreme Southeast Oklahoma
National Weather Service Shreveport LA
246 PM CDT Sat Jul 19 2025

.DISCUSSION...
Isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms that has developed this
afternoon over portions of North Louisiana, extreme Southern Arkansas, and
Deep East Texas, will diminish early this evening with the loss of heating,
with the upper level disturbance responsible expected to lift farther north
and wash out Sunday. Upper ridging aloft will build north into the region
from the Northern Gulf tonight and Sunday, resulting in the return to the
oppressively hot and dry conditions characteristic of late July, which will
persist throughout this coming new work week. South-southwest 20ft winds
will be a bit stronger the next couple of day, resulting in better mixing
than what has been observed as of late, but the increasing heat and residual
humidity will still produce heat indices in excess of 105 degrees each day
across North Louisiana, much of Southwest Arkansas, and extreme Eastern Texas.
Some scattered wetting rain will be possible late this week across portions of
North Louisiana and Lower East Texas as the upper ridge center shifts farther
northeast over the Mid-South/Tennessee Valley, allowing for a series of
easterly wave to traverse the Gulf coast into the region.
