Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Southwest Arkansas...
Northwest Louisiana...East Texas...and Extreme Southeast Oklahoma
National Weather Service Shreveport LA
103 AM CST Fri Nov 21 2025

.DISCUSSION...
Scattered showers and a few thunderstorms will persist across the region today,
along and ahead of a surface dryline that will slowly mix east into Eastern Oklahoma
and Eastcentral Texas late this afternoon. Given the moist air mass still in
place, brief heavy rainfall will be possible with the stronger storms, before they
begin to diminish this evening as additional drier air aloft begins to mix east atop
this boundary. Given the above, min RH`s this afternoon will remain abnormally high,
ranging from 60-70+% with 20ft winds becoming southwest near 10 mph by afternoon.
A weak cold front will overtake the dryline late this evening through Saturday
morning, allowing for drier air and slightly cooler temperatures to spill southeast
in its wake for the upcoming weekend. This air mass will begin to warm and moisten Sunday
night and Monday, as a warm front begins to lift back north through the region, ahead of
a strong but slow moving upper level disturbance that will lift northeast out of the
Desert Southwest into the Southern Rockies/Central Plains. Strong forcing out ahead of
this disturbance and accompanying dryline will result in showers and thunderstorms
increasing over Southeast Oklahoma, Southwest Arkansas, and Northeast Texas Sunday
night, and across the remainder of the region Monday. This next system should provide
beneficial rainfall to much of the area, before a strong cold front spills southeast
through the region by midweek, returning much cooler, drier, and more seasonal air into
the area for late week in time for the Thanksgiving holiday.
