.DISCUSSION...
Low clouds are moving across the area this morning and will
largely persist through the day Friday, apart from a brief period
of sun possible around midday. Despite the cloud cover, regional mixing
heights will max out around 4200-5000 ft with min RH`s of 40-50%.
The main story today will be the winds. Southerly surface winds
are expected to stay below 20 mph for most of the region, but
higher gusts will still be possible. Probabilistic guidance
suggests that afternoon gusts greater than 25 mph are maximized
in fire zones across East Texas, where probabilities exceed 70% in
areas. Other fire districts have probabilities in the range
closer to 20-40%.
