.DISCUSSION...
Oppressive hot and humid conditions will continue areawide today through
midweek, as upper level ridging persists across the region, and actually
amplifies over the area to start the new work week. Isolated afternoon showers
and thunderstorms will remain possible though areawide this afternoon,
which may provide brief relief for some before the storms diminish by sunset.
With surface high pressure lingering over the area today, 20ft winds this
afternoon will remain light and variable, with min RH`s through Monday ranging
from 40-45%. Some slightly drier surface air will gradually backdoor southwest
into the region by Tuesday, resulting in min RH`s falling to 35-40%, although
more triple digit heat will expand over the area through Wednesday before
a more unsettled weather pattern takes shape for the latter half of the new
work week. Upper ridging will shift farther west away from the region, allowing
for a weak upper level disturbance to drift south and focus an increase in
scattered showers and thunderstorms over the area especially by Thursday and
Friday, providing cooler temperatures and needed rain. The unsettled weather
may linger into the first half of next weekend across Deep East Texas and North
Louisiana.
