Fire Weather Planning Forecast for southeast Kansas and southwest Missouri
National Weather Service Springfield MO
148 AM CDT Sat May 17 2025

.DISCUSSION...

Modest 5-10 mph northwesterly winds will occur today until a
surface ridge axis will shift winds to easterly from west to east
betweeen 3 and 10 PM. With the surface high pressure moving across
the region today, MinRH values will drop in the 30-35% range, with
some models showing values as low as 25%. Winds should stay light
through today, though.

A warm front will then lift north through the region tonight,
bringing breezy southeasterly winds and moisture back to the
region. Daily chances for showers and thunderstorms will follow.
