Fire Weather Planning Forecast for southeast Kansas and southwest Missouri
National Weather Service Springfield MO
336 PM CDT Fri Aug 22 2025

.DISCUSSION...

Near normal highs with temperatures in the middle to upper 80s
are expected today and Saturday before a cold front moves
through the region. Drier air in place will result in minimum
relative humidity values in the 35-50% range, with localized areas
seeing less than 35%, especially on southern aspects.

Winds will be light at 3-10 mph, and somewhat variable, though
the dominant directions will be out of the east and northeast.
There may be a few gusts up to 18 mph on Saturday and Sunday
afternoons, but those stronger winds aren`t going to be widespread.

Following the cold front Sunday, temperatures drop below
normal for next week, with highs in the 70s and lower 80s and
renewed chances for rain through next Friday.
