Fire Weather Planning Forecast for southeast Kansas and southwest Missouri
National Weather Service Springfield MO
111 PM CDT Tue Aug 19 2025

.DISCUSSION...

An outflow boundary has advanced into the eastern Ozarks this
morning. This has left areas across west-southwest Missouri much
drier and a bit cooler than expected with relative humidity values
currently in the 30-50% range and northerly winds. While some
moistening is expected this afternoon, chances for storms has
decreased quite a bit across west-southwest Missouri and southeast
Kansas. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are ongoing across
the eastern Ozarks, however, and are expected to continue through
this evening.

Tonight, a cold front will bring drier and relatively cooler
weather through the end of the week, with persistently
northeasterly winds and afternoon relative humidity values in the
30-50% range.
