Fire Weather Planning Forecast for southeast Kansas and southwest Missouri
National Weather Service Springfield MO
406 AM CDT Wed Mar 12 2025

.DISCUSSION...

There is a 10 to 30% chance for some scattered rain showers and
maybe a few rumbles of thunder tonight, mainly near the Arkansas
Border, leaving most locations dry. Look for another warm and dry
day today with highs in the 70s to low 80s and minimum RH values
of 20-30%. Southerly winds of 5-15 mph gusting to 10-20 mph are
expected.

Friday afternoon and evening have 30-70% chances for showers and
thunderstorms, mainly east of Highway 65. Even so, some locations
may remain dry. Some storms may be severe.

Strong winds are expected on Friday, with sustained winds of at
least 25-30 mph and gusts up to 45-50 mph, possibly 50-60+ mph.
Relative humidity values Friday afternoon are expected to be in
the 30-40% range, but depending on the quality of the moisture
return with the late-week system, RH values could drop further,
creating significant fire conditions.
