Fire Weather Planning Forecast for southeast Kansas and southwest Missouri
National Weather Service Springfield MO
Issued by National Weather Service St Louis MO
209 PM CDT Tue Aug 18 2026

.DISCUSSION...

Hot conditions with relatively low humidity continue south of a
cold front on Wednesday, though just how far south this front
moves is uncertain. Southwest Missouri has the best chance of
seeing 100 degree heat and humidity falling to below 35 percent on
Wednesday. Winds will be light out of the southwest ahead of the
front, but variable and turning more northerly to the north of the
front. Thunderstorms are expected tonight in central Missouri and
again Wednesday night along the front in southern Missouri. Once
the front moves through Wednesday night, cooler and more humid
conditions are expected for Thursday and Friday. However, hotter
and drier weather attempts to move back into the region this
weekend into next week.
