Fire Weather Planning Forecast for southeast Kansas and southwest Missouri
National Weather Service Springfield MO
102 PM CDT Fri Aug 28 2026

.DISCUSSION...

A dry and warming air mass is in place across the region today.
High temperatures today will reach the middle 80s to middle 90s.
With moisture still a bit lacking, minimum RH values are in the
25-40% range. Though, winds will be 5-10 mph out of the east-
northeast.

There are some concerns for Elevated Fire Weather Danger
primarily west of Highway 65 on Sunday. This is due to Min RH
values in the 20-30% range with southwesterly winds gusting to
25 mph. This area is also in a Moderate to Severe (D1 to D2 out
of 4) Drought with no rain expected through the long term period.
