Fire Weather Planning Forecast for southeast Kansas and southwest Missouri
National Weather Service Springfield MO
329 AM CDT Sun Sep 6 2026

.DISCUSSION...

Heat to remain a concern with an Extreme Heat Warning in
effect today. Winds will gradually shift to the east and northeast by afternoon
with speeds less than 10kts. There is a 20-40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms
this afternoon and evening. Hot temps will continue through mid week, especially west of Highway 65.
Increased wind gusts during the afternoons on Tuesday and Wednesday could heighten the fire danger.
