Fire Weather Planning Forecast for southeast Kansas and southwest Missouri
National Weather Service Springfield MO
246 PM CDT Thu Jul 23 2026

.DISCUSSION...

Extensive cloud cover is expected to linger across the area
through Saturday which will generally keep temperatures cool and
minimum RHs above 40-50%. Chances of rain also increase to 40-70%
starting tonight north of Highway 54, then east of Highway 65
Friday into Saturday. Widespread rain is expected at some point
during this timeframe, with embedded scattered thunderstorms
potentially bringing a flooding risk for areas that see multiple
of the storms.

Winds will generally hover between speeds of 8-12 mph, starting
out of the east, shifting to southerly by Friday morning, then to
westerly by mid-day Saturday. Gusts may reach to 20 mph at times
during the daytime.
