.SHORT TERM /THROUGH TONIGHT/...
Issued at 225 PM CDT Wed Aug 13 2025

Fair weather cumulus have popped up over the area this
afternoon as a cold front is situated from west to east across
central MO. As mentioned in the previous forecast discussion,
this front is more like a dry front as dewpoints have dropped
into the mid 60s near the front. There is a weak shortwave that
is pushing through SE MO this afternoon that brought rain to
the eastern Ozarks region. Though, those showers have since
dissipated and those cloud tops continue to cool. Elsewhere
across the area is expected to remain dry through the rest of
the day.

Highs today will reach into the lower 90s by later this
afternoon with light northerly winds. Expect a mostly clear
night with lows in the mid 60s and variable winds.

.LONG TERM /THURSDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY/...
Issued at 225 PM CDT Wed Aug 13 2025

We`ll have another taste of summer this weekend. High pressure
will continue to build over the desert southwest and slowly push
east into our area by the end of the week and into the weekend.
It`ll be a warm weekend ahead with little to no chances for
rain. Expect highs to be in the mid 90s with heat indices around
100 to 105 degrees especially for areas west of highway 65. Will
monitor for any heat headlines out west since we`ll be very
close to criteria on Saturday.

Signal for cooling trend and return of rain chances next week:

The ridge that`ll be situated over us this weekend will
retrograde westward Monday, bringing in northwesterly flow
aloft. This will gradually cool temperatures and we`ll feel some
relief by Wednesday as high temperatures will stay mostly in
the 80s.

The northwest flow aloft should also bring back chances for
rain as little wiggles in the jet stream allow for more large-
scale lift and forcing. Right now, 15-20% chances are present
each day Monday through Wednesday, but any one day could
increase chances as we draw closer to the designated time
period.

.AVIATION /00Z TAFS THROUGH 00Z THURSDAY/...
Issued at 604 PM CDT Wed Aug 13 2025

VFR conditions through the TAF period. A few mid-level and high
clouds will move across southeast Missouri this evening, with
fair weather cumulus likely developing again after 18Z Thursday.
North-northeasterly winds will gradually turn to the south
overnight into the afternoon, generally remaining 12 kt or less
through the forecast period.
