.SHORT TERM /THROUGH TONIGHT/...
Issued at 225 PM CDT Mon Aug 24 2026

Dewpoints have risen almost 10 degrees since 12z (7 AM) from 60 to
70 degrees and moisture will continue to advect into the area
through the rest of the day. Instability is around 500-1000 J/kg of
MUCAPE as we`ve heard a few rumbles of thunder here at the office.
Our shortwave trough is beginning to weaken and our lift is
dissipating which has helped these thunderstorms turn into showers
and bring an end to the rain. Though, most of the area could use
some rain with SW MO seeing around 0.5-1.5" of rain over the last 24
hours. This activity did create brief heavy rainfall, but no
widespread flooding occurred.

The rest of today will finish out warm and muggy with highs in the
upper 80s to lower 90s with partly sunny skies with clouds clearing
out by later this evening. Tonight will be warm and muggy with lows
in the upper 60s to lower 70s.

&&

.LONG TERM /TUESDAY THROUGH MONDAY/...
Issued at 225 PM CDT Mon Aug 24 2026

Rain chances return again (20-30%) late Tuesday night into
Wednesday as a shortwave trough and a weak front moves into the
area again. As of right now, no widespread severe weather is
expected and no SPC outlooks besides general thunder has been
issued. Otherwise, high pressure builds over the desert
southwest and over the east coast. Winds will be southeasterly
before the front, then east-northeast after the front and for
the rest of the work week as we get stuck between two areas of
high pressure. The rest of the week into the weekend looks to be
dry with this pattern in place. Temperatures stay pretty steady
as well with upper 80s to lower 90s.

Looking ahead to the start of September, CPC outlook for the
first week of September doesn`t bode well for the folks who are
eager for fall to arrive. The 6-10 day temperature outlook has a
65% chance for above normal temperatures (avg = 82-87 degrees)
and equal chances to see above/below normal rainfall accumulation
(avg = 0.73").

.AVIATION /00Z TAFS THROUGH 00Z WEDNESDAY/...
Issued at 555 PM CDT Mon Aug 24 2026

VFR flight conditions ahead through most of the TAF period, with
a low chance (< 10%) for an isolated shower. Otherwise, batches
of mid to high level clouds move through the area. Light
southeast winds at 5 to 10 knots.
