Hydrometeorological Discussion
National Weather Service / California-Nevada RFC / Sacramento CA
615 AM PDT Thu Jul 23 2026

...SCATTERED SHOWERS/T-STORM COVERAGE REMAINS LIMITED INTO NEXT
WEEK...

.METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS (THU AM - WED AM)...

High pressure will remain anchored near the 4-Corners region through
the rest of this week into next week...as an area of low pressure
currently spinning west of the CA/OR border offshore in the vicinity
of 42N/130W eventually lifts off toward the northeast this weekend.
However...reinforcing disturbances making their way out of the Gulf
of Alaska will continue the general troffing over the northeast
Pacific. As a result...expect dry southwest flow to be the rule
across much of the region. Any higher moisture content air will
remain over eastern NV and southeastern CA...and this is where the
best opportunity for afternoon/early evening showers and
thunderstorms will reside. However...with available moisture off the
peaks from earlier this week...overall coverage looks to be less
than what was recently observed.

Freezing levels will fluctuate near present levels between 14000-
and 18000-feet through the period with the gradient continuing from
northwest to southeast.
