Hydrometeorological Discussion
National Weather Service / California-Nevada RFC / Sacramento CA
615 AM PDT Tue Aug 18 2026

...MINIMAL CHANCES OF A FEW SHOWERS/T-STORMS FOR ERN NV THROUGH
THURS, THEN INCREASING T-STORM CHANCES STARTING FRI FOR SE CA, THE
SIERRA, AND NV...
...TEMPERATURES HOVERING AROUND AVERAGE THROUGH THE PERIOD...

.METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS (TUE AM - MON AM)...

The region remains in between an area of high pressure over the Four
Corners and approaching low pressure from offshore. This dynamic
should keep temperatures generally fluctuating around normal
throughout the week, though occasionally up to 10 deg F above normal
for parts of srn CA and NV. The offshore low will gradually approach
the PacNW and nrn CA the rest of the work week before moving inland
across the PacNW over the weekend. Another low over the Gulf of
Alaska should keep the dynamic of troughing offshore and high
pressure inland going after that. Minimal chances of
afternoon/evening showers/thunderstorms over the higher terrain of
eastern NV through Thursday before increasing mid level moisture and
instability Friday through the weekend is expected. This will result
in chances of showers and thunderstorms over se CA, parts of the
Sierra, and NV.

Freezing levels to remain around 13.5-17.5 kft through most of the
period with some fluctuation.
