...FLOOD WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 AM EST SUNDAY...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by heavy rainfall during the past couple of
  days.

* WHERE...Portions of southwest Virginia, including the following
  county, Tazewell and southeast West Virginia, including the
  following counties, Mercer and Summers.

* WHEN...Until 400 AM EST Sunday.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
  and flood-prone locations is occurring. Expect some areas of slow
  moving or standing water.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 920 PM EST, Heavy rainfall between 1.5 and 2.5 inches had
    fallen the last couple of days. The gauge at Bluestone near
    Spanishburg crested at 15.10 feet, at moderate flood stage,
    but has fallen back to minor flood stage, and was at 12.32
    feet at 800 PM EST. The river should fall below action stage
    within the next few hours.
  - This includes the following streams and drainages...
    Brush Creek, Blacklick Creek, Bluestone River and Beaver
    Branch.
    Flooding impacts will continue, but no additional rainfall is
    expected.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Bluefield, Princeton, Camp Creek, Pipestem, Pocahontas and
    Bramwell.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

When it is safe to do so, please send your reports of flooding,
including mudslides or flooded roads, to the National Weather
Service by calling toll free at 1...8 6 6...2 1 5...4 3 2 4. Reports
and pictures can also be shared on the National Weather Service
