...NWS Charleston WV Computer update June 10th through June 12th 2025...

The National Weather Service Charleston, WV Forecast Office will
conduct a required, scheduled update to its Advanced Weather
Interactive Processing System (AWIPS) from 8:00 AM Tuesday, June
10, 2025, through approximately 4:00 PM Thursday, June 12th,
2025. The NWS uses the AWIPS computer system to display and
integrate weather and water information and to send life-saving
information, such as weather and water warnings, to the public.

During the update, forecast operations will be conducted by our
forecasters stationed at our service back-up office in Pittsburgh,
PA, to minimize any potential interruption to services. No
impacts to our core services of forecast products and weather
watches, warnings, and advisories are expected during this period.
However, some impacts will occur to the following services:

* NOAA Weather Transmitters: All NOAA Weather Radio transmitters
  maintained by NWS Charleston, WV will be off air through the
  time of the install. This includes the following transmitters:
  In West Virginia: Charleston, Sutton, Garfield, Beckley,
  Clarksburg, Gilbert, Monterville. In Ohio: Athens, Marietta. In
  Kentucky: Ashland.

* Many services on weather.gov/rlx, including locally generated
  weather forecast maps, will not update. This includes, but is
  not limited to:

- Graphical Weather Outlook
      https://www.weather.gov/erh/ghwo?wfo=rlx

- Decision Support Weather Briefing
      https://weather.gov/rlx/briefing

- River Monitor
      https://weather.gov/rlx/rivermon will not update during the
      outage.

- Text products listed on https://www.weather.gov/rlx/textproducts
      will appear old, but most will be available. Some others
      that provide observational data will not be updated.

      These include:
      CLI - Daily Climatological Reports
      CF6 - Preliminary Monthly Summary
      HYD - Hydrologic/Cooperative Observer Reports
      RTP - Regional Temperature and Precipitation Summary
      RWR - Hourly Weather Observation Report Summary

- Climate
      https://weather.gov/rlx/cliamte will not update during the
      outage. Data will be restored once the AWIPS update is
      completed.

* The Charleston, WV forecast office will remain open and staffed
  throughout this period for public and partner phone calls and
  additional functions that can be completed without AWIPS.
