463 FNUS55 KRIW 310901 FWFRIW Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Western and Central Wyoming National Weather Service Riverton WY 301 AM MDT Thu Jul 31 2025 .DISCUSSION... ...Yellowstone NP and Teton dispatch areas (includes fire weather zones 140...414...415...and 416)... Above normal moisture will persist across northern parts of the dispatch zone today. This should limit fire weather concerns while southern zones may see near elevated fire weather conditions. Min RH values over zones 140 and 415 will mainly remain above 25 percent while zones 414 and 416 see lower values of 20 or less percent. Isolated showers and thunderstorms will be possible this afternoon with the best chances across northern zones. Chance for wetting rains are expected to be low with the best chances being 10 to 20 percent mainly over zones 140 and 415. Winds increase in the afternoon with speeds of 10 to 15 mph accompanied by periodic gusts around 20 mph. Stronger gusts may be possible nearby any developing showers or thunderstorms. Moisture will continue to dwindle through the weekend with Min RH values returning to near critical by the weekend. ...Cody dispatch area (includes fire weather zones 275...276... 282...283...285...286...287...288...and 289)... Above normal moisture persists keeping fire weather concerns to a minimum. Min RH values will be mainly above 25 percent across the dispatch area. Showers and thunderstorms will be possible once again this afternoon and evening. Chances for wetting rains will be the highest across northern zones ranging from 20 to 50 percent. Winds are expected to be marginal with the only increase being a result of convection. Strong gusty outflow winds will be possible as showers and thunderstorms develop with gusts of 30 to 45 mph. Min RH along with chances for precipitation are expected to continue to decrease through the end of the week. This may lead to near elevated fire weather conditions by the weekend. ...Casper dispatch area (includes fire weather zones 277...278... 279...280...281...285...289...and 300)... Above normal moisture should limit fire weather concerns today for northern zones as min RH values remain above 30 percent for northern zones with drier values around 10 to 15 percent across southern zones. Showers and thunderstorms return today with chances for wetting rains ranging from 20 to 40 percent over northern zones. Showers and thunderstorms will be more isolated and drier in nature for southern zones Across all zones one concern as a result of any nearby thunderstorms will be frequent cloud to ground lightning strikes. Winds increase this afternoon over southern zones with speeds around 15 mph with periodic gusts of 20 to 30 mph. Strong gusty outflow winds of 30 to 45 mph will be possible nearby any developing showers or thunderstorms. Min RH values and precipitation chances will continue to decrease throughout the remainder of the week. This may lead to more widespread near elevated fire weather concerns by the weekend. ...Thunderstorms imply strong gusty and erratic winds...
