.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 248 AM MDT Sun Apr 20 2025

Showers have begun to move into portions of far northwestern WY this
morning, as a weak disturbance makes its way through the area.
Showers spread east through the morning with the best chances (30-
60%) for precipitation remaining across the northern half of the
CWA. The initial push of energy moves through the state this
morning with another round expected during the afternoon. Weak
instability during the afternoon will create the possibility for
another round of showers to develop. There is a small chance
(10-20%) for an isolated thunderstorm mainly across northwestern
WY. Fortunately, much of the state will remain dry for Easter
Sunday as temperatures continue to moderate with highs in the
upper 40s to mid 50s. Winds are expected to increase slightly
across western and southern WY this afternoon with periodic
gusts of 20 to 30 mph.

The start of next week will see active weather continue across the
region with multiple chances for precipitation. Starting Monday a
shortwave looks to move into the area bringing with it chances for
snow/rain showers. The bulk of the energy associated with this
system is forecast to remain north of the state which will result in
impacts being mainly limited to the western and northern portions of
the CWA. Overall, impacts are expected to be minimal with anywhere
from 2 to 8 inches of wet snow across western mountains and portions
of the Bighorns. Snowfall looks to occur rather quickly during the
morning hours on Monday, which may lead to some slick spots along
mountain passes. Elsewhere, showers will be scattered in nature with
temperatures keeping things in the form of rain across lower
elevations on Monday. Winds increase during the day Monday as the
shortwave moves across the State. Widespread gusty conditions are
expected during the afternoon/evening with periodic gusts of 30 to
40 mph for much of central and southern WY. Winds decrease shortly
after sunset as the disturbance pulls out of the region.

The remainder of the week as mentioned earlier, will be active with
chances for light precipitation. Temperatures are forecast to
continue to gradually warm with highs returning to the upper 50s and
low 60s by the end of the week. The longer range outlook continues
to remain fairly quiet in terms of lacking any large and impactful
systems. The next chance for a potentially impactful system does not
look to arrive until next weekend, however being this far out there
is a lot of uncertainty. Fingers remain crossed that another
one or two potent weather makers can help to close the gap on
any moisture deficits as we near summer.

.AVIATION /12Z TAFS THROUGH 12Z MONDAY/...
Issued at 500 AM MDT Sun Apr 20 2025

VFR conditions to start the period and throughout much of this
cycle. Some rain/snow showers around JAC but not making it on
station, keeping VCSH. This will spread to COD after 15Z with a
PROB30 group for light snow and lower but still VFR conditions.
Lower confidence at CPR (<15%), carrying VCSH at this time for
the same timeframe through 19Z. Otherwise, mid level ceilings
with a 25kt gust at RKS/CPR during peak heating between 19-02Z.
Another round of showers possible west of the Divide after 06Z
into Monday morning at JAC/BPI/PNA with lower but VFR ceilings
keeping hold in the mid levels eastward.

Please see the Aviation Weather Center and/or CWSU ZDV and ZLC for
