.DISCUSSION...

Cool, northerly breezes will work to keep us on the chilly side
through early next week. The trough draped across the western U.S.
will allow for this to remain the case, as another shortwave will
glide along the Pacific periphery of the trough by Sunday to
reinforce our cool air. We don`t anticipate much in the way of
precipitation, and only a modest increase in breezy ridge winds to
accompany the shortwave. Keep the sweaters and quilts handy at
night, especially in the Sierra. Overnight temperatures will tumble
toward at or below freezing for Sierra valleys. Sierra front
locations will have to wait a bit longer for freezing overnight
lows.

Things get interesting for midweek as solutions start to meander
around the presence of either a deep impactful trough with plentiful
moisture, or a ridging pattern that warms and dries us out. As we
get closer in time the details will iron out, but for now, it could
be 80 and sunny or 60 and showery. This much variability is a marker
of fall seasons, when the solution patterns become wildly varied
as the season changes. HRICH
