The National Weather Service in Raleigh has extended the

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Lee County in central North Carolina...

* Until 615 PM EDT.

* At 456 PM EDT, local law enforcement reported flash flooding due
  to earlier thunderstorms and heavy rain in Sanford. Flash flooding
  is already occurring and some roads remain closed.

  HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

  SOURCE...Law enforcement reported.

  IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
           areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
           other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Sanford, Broadway, Gum Springs, Tramway, Cumnock and Lemon Springs.

While the torrential rainfall has moved out of the Sanford area,
light rainfall continues. Another area of moderate to heavy rainfall
to the west may move into the area in the next hour or so.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
