The National Weather Service in Raleigh has extended the

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Central Wake County in central North Carolina...

* Until 230 AM EDT.

* At 1238 AM EDT, gauge reports show streams and creeks are still
  rising or just now cresting. Crabtree creek at Old Wake Forest
  Road still above minor flood stage. Between 1.5 and 3.5 inches of
  rain have fallen. Flash flooding is already occurring.

  HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

  SOURCE...Gauges reported.

  IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
           areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
           other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Raleigh, Cary, Garner, RDU International, Apex, Holly Springs,
  Morrisville, William B Umstead State Park, Lake Wheeler, Lake
  Benson, Research Triangle, Carpenter, New Hill, Falls Lake and
  Jordan Lake.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
