Precipitation will increase across the region today, with heavier snow starting to develop later this evening and persist into Saturday morning for the eastern mountains, southern I-25 corridor, and Raton Mesa area. Snow totals through tonight will be greatest along these localized areas, with 1 to 2 feet for the mountains, and 5 to 12 inches for the lower elevations. Roads are expected to become slushy and slick Friday night, and with the heavy and wet nature of the snow, along with gusty winds, some strain to infrastructure and trees will be possibe. Outside of these areas, 5 to 10 inches is expected for the rest of the mountains, with generally less than 1 inch elsewhere. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday Snow will continue across the higher terrain and adjacent plains Saturday morning, with the greatest snow amounts and potential travel hazards expected across the southern portions of the forecast area. Activity is expected to diminish from north to south Saturday evening. Fire danger will be on the increase by the middle of the upcoming work week as conditions dry out and high temperatures climb to above seasonal normals. .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...
