Showers will develop over the higher terrain this afternoon and continue into the evening, with a focus across the central mountains. The peaks of Lake and Chaffee counties may see new snow totals of 2 to 3 inches through tonight, though the remaining peaks will likely just receive a dusting. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Friday through Wednesday Meteorological critical fire weather conditions are expected over portions of the area each afternoon into next week. Highest chances for critical conditions will be over the San Luis Valley, as well as gap flow areas along I-25, through Saturday. On Sunday, winds increase over the plains and will spread critical conditions east. However, fuels at this time appear too green to warrant any highlights, based on recent heavy rainfall. Afternoon and evening showers, with a few thunderstorms, will be possible each afternoon through Saturday. Best chances will be over the Central Mountains, with lightning, small hail, and gusty outflow winds as the main impact concerns. An incoming low pressure system is expected to bring wetter and more unsettled weather to the higher terrain, starting late Sunday and moving into next week. As of now, the plains appear to stay hot, generally dry, and windy through at least Monday, with more uncertainty in the forecast as we move later in the week. .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT... Weather spotters will not be needed today or tonight. $$ 27/GARBEROGLIO
