.DISCUSSION...
A bit more active today compared to yesterday. Isolated to scattered
thunderstorms are expected to form over the nearby mountains and the
Raton, starting around 1-2pm before storms push northeast the rest
of the day. With RH around 20 percent this afternoon, chances for
wetting rains remain somewhat low, though lightning and gusty
outflow winds will be possible. Around any stronger showers or
thunderstorms, these outflow winds could reach 45 mph. Chances for
storms will start to decrease after about 7pm. Outside of that,
winds will largely be out of the west-southwest today, gusting
around 15 mph, with high temps in the 90s again.
Lighter winds overnight, with RH bouncing back to above 60% and low
temps in the 60s.
Saturday will be similarly warm and dry to today, with winds a bit
weaker and more variable in direction, typically 10 mph or less with
a few gusts to 15 mph. Scattered to more widespread showers and
storms are expected, starting mid-afternoon and lasting into early
evening. Gusty outflow winds and lightning will be expected again,
with a better chance for moderate to heavy rainfall as well.
