Fire Weather Planning Forecast FOR S Cntrl and Sern Colorado
National Weather Service Pueblo Co
947 AM MDT Mon Sep 16 2024

.Discussion...

Showers and thunderstorms will be more widespread over the district
today and Tuesday with the best chance of wetting rains across the
eastern San Juan mountains and crest of the Sangres where rainfall
amounts could approach or exceed 1 inch over the 2 day time span.
Storm total precipitation amounts will be more likely to stay under
0.25 for most of the southeast plains, though spotty areas could
pick up a little more. Although south to southwesterly winds will
be gusty, humidity levels should stay above critical thresholds.

Drier air on the back side of the system could bring some critical
fire weather days to portions of the southeast plains Wednesday and
Thursday, though coverage looks limited and confined to portions of
the I-25 corridor and Raton Mesa region.

Another round of showers and thunderstorms will be possible for late
week into next weekend as another storm system crosses the U.S. Rockies.

Dispersions will remain poor to fair out west today as rounds of showers
spread in from the south through the day. Good to excellent dispersions
can be expected across eastern areas. Stronger winds on Tuesday will
result in good to excellent dispersions district wide.

--- thunderstorms imply strong gusty and erratic winds ---
