.Discussion...
Critical fire weather conditions will persist over the southeast plains
into this evening, before winds decrease after sunset. Snow and blowing
snow will continue along the Continental Divide into the evening, before
tapering off to flurries after midnight.
A cold front will arrive late tonight with northwesterly winds filling in
behind it. Very dry air will move into the region behind the front, with
poor recoveries overnight along the eastern mountain lee slopes. On
Wednesday, critical fire weather conditions will return to the southern
I-25 corridor and Fremont County.
A return to wet conditions is expected starting Thursday, as a large upper
level weather system moves through the western U.S. late this week
through the weekend. Widespread precipitation is possible, accumulating
snow in the mountains and rain and snow over lower elevations.
Smoke dispersion will reach very good to excellent levels across the area
on Wednesday, before falling back into the good to very good range on
Thursday and clouds and showers develop.
