.Discussion...
Warm and dry conditions will continue today and Wednesday, with
spotty critical fire weather conditions possible both days. The
one area of concern today will be the San Luis Valley, Fire Zone
224. Wind gusts this afternoon will approach 25 mph at times,
especially between 1500 and 1800, and care should be taken with
any outdoor activities.
Very windy and warm conditions return for Thursday, with an
increased potential for widespread critical conditions on the
plains. A strong weather system will sweep across the region late
Thursday through Friday, bringing a good chance of rain and snow
to many locations. Lingering showers and cooler conditions
expected on Saturday, then dry and warmer weather returns Sunday.
Surface-based inversions will begin to break today between 1000
and 1100, with ventilation rates improving to Very Good to
Excellent for the higher terrain between 1200 and 1900. Smoke
dispersion across the eastern plains will improve to Good to Very
Good. Similar ventilation trends are forecast for Wednesday.
