...A Fire Weather Watch is in effect Monday afternoon and
evening across the central and southwest mountains...
.Discussion...
Dry, windy and hot conditions will continue for Sunday and Monday
with critical fire weather conditions returning for the mountains,
valleys and adjacent plains both days. There is a Red Flag Warning
in effect on Sunday for the central/southwest mountains, as well
as the Sangre de Cristo Range/Wet Mountains and the upper Arkansas
River Valley and a Fire Weather Watch in effect for Monday for the
central/southwest mountains and upper Arkansas River Valley. Isolated
to scattered afternoon thunderstorms will return for Sunday across
the far southeast plains where gusty winds and lightning will be the
primary risks.
Thunderstorm chances increase early next week as a cold front drops
through the plains, and mid and high level moisture streams up from
the south. This will knock temperatures back down to near to a
little below normal through the middle of next week. Temperatures
start to increase again through late week, with thunderstorm chances
decreasing.
Smoke dispersion will be excellent everywhere on Sunday, but only
excellent over the mountains and mountain valleys on Monday. The
plains will range from Poor to Fair across the plains on Monday.
