Updated to expire the Freezing Fog Advisory for the San Luis
Valley.
Critical fire weather conditions are not expected through the next
seven days. Ample moisture spread across the majority of the
forecast area with yesterday`s system, though some areas saw more
than others where heavier banding set up. Colorado Springs Airport
smashed their daily rainfall record, and Black Forest even picked up
a few inches of slushy snow. Not all areas saw as much moisture, but
more may be on the way through the weekend..
First though, today will bring a quick warmup with warmer than
normal temperatures and dry weather. A cold front pushes through
late tonight into early tomorrow morning, keeping our temperatures
cooler than normal for Tuesday and Wednesday. Dry weather and near
to slightly warmer than normal temperatures are expected for
Thanksgiving Day and Friday.
Models are still trying to hone in on a weekend system that is
likely to bring a pattern change, though its exact impacts for
southeast Colorado are still mostly unknown. For now, it looks like
we should expect much cooler temperatures from Saturday onwards,
along with chances for snow, at least for the high country, but
possibly for the plains as well.
Afternoon smoke dispersions will vary greatly across the district
today and tomorrow, but, in general, poor rates are expected over
the San Luis Valley and the mountain adjacent plains. Rates look to
be fair to good for some of the high country and portions of the
eastern plains. Please see specific zone forecast below for better
details!
