.Discussion...
High fire danger is expected across the San Luis Valley today, where
southwest winds gusting to 35 mph are expected. Winds increase
across all areas on Sunday, with gusts to 55 mph possible on Sunday
afternoon across the San Luis Valley. Humidity values look to fall
into the low teens today and single digits on Sunday. High end and
widespread critical fire weather conditions are expected for Monday
as well, as the system passes to our north and a cold front drops
through our area.
From Tuesday onwards, cooler temperatures and off and on chances for
precipitation will be possible.
Other than excellent rates over the high country, afternoon smoke
dispersions will vary greatly across the district today. Please see
specific zone forecasts below for more information. Rates are
excellent over the entire area on Sunday.
