Flooding is anticipated for locations along the Arkansas River, between Pueblo and La Junta, and for the Purgatoire River near Las Animas. Flooding for these locations is anticipated to begin in the morning hours on Wednesday, May 7. While flooding is not anticipated for other streams at this time, rises and hazardous flow conditions can still be expected for Fountain Creek, St. Charles River, Huerfano River, Cucharas River, Apishapa River and other area streams, in addition to other locations along the Arkansas River and Purgatoire River. Swift flowing water and unstable stream banks pose a hazard for those near area streams. Heed any directives and orders from law enforcement and local emergency management, and never attempt to drive over flooded roadways! $$ JML
