Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Southwest and South-Central
Arizona and Southeast California
National Weather Service Phoenix AZ
158 PM MST Mon Sep 1 2025

.DISCUSSION...
With temperatures falling closer to the seasonal normal,
increasing moisture will result in better wetting rainfall chances
and reduced wildfire threat across the entire region. While
storms will be most prevalent over mountain areas, lower
elevations of western districts have better than a 50% chance of
rain through Wednesday. The moisture increase will result in MinRHs
generally falling into a 15-30% range following fair to good
overnight recovery of 40-70%. East winds will prevail through
Wednesday with occasional gustiness. Thunderstorms will create
strong and long traveling outflows during the late
afternoon/evening with widespread strong, gusty winds.

...Thunderstorms imply gusty winds...
