Covering June-Mid July 2026 No change in drought intensity in last 30 days Above normal temperatures and below normal precipitation persists Drought is predicted to persists or develop for the rest of the summer U.S. Drought Monitor Drought intensity and Extent D3 (Extreme Drought): Southeastern Lane D2 (Severe Drought): Eastern Lane, southern Linn D1 (Moderate Drought): Central Lane, Benton, northern Linn, Marion, southern Clackamas, eastern Polk, southeastern Yamhill D0(Abnormally Dry): Western Lane, Lincoln, western Polk, Yamhill, Washington, eastern Tillamook, Columbia, Multnomah, Hood River, northern Clackamas, Skamania, Clark, Cowlitz Precipitation In June, below to well below average precipitation fell across much of eastern OR and WA, while near average precipitation was observed in parts of western WA into northwest OR . Washington June: 84 percent of average Oregon June: 62 percent of average Temperature Last week had below normal temperatures for the area but overall, above average temps were observed across most of Washington and Oregon for June. Washington 25th warmest June Oregon 18th warmest June Summary of Impacts Hydrologic Impacts Below normal to much below streamflow on river systems flowing into the Cowlitz, Willamette, and Sandy river systems. Groundwater and stream water quality could worsen with less water Agricultural Impacts Water availability strained by lower than normal precipitation and snowpack. Oregon- 72% of topsoil and subsoil moisture classified as short or very short (USDA). Washington- 62% of topsoil moisture classified as short or very short (USDA) Fire Hazard Impacts Significant fire potential starts for the area starting in August and persist through September. Other Impacts Hydropower could be impacted with less water in system Mitigation Actions Please refer to your municipality and/or water provider for mitigation information Drought Outlook With above normal temperatures and below normal precipitation forecasted, drought is predicted to persists or develop for the rest of the summer. $$
