CHANGES WITH THIS ADVISORY -------------------------- The Tropical Storm Warning for Tinian and Saipan is canceled as of 800 AM ChST. WATCHES AND WARNINGS -------------------- The Tropical Storm Warning for Tinian and Saipan is canceled as of 800 AM ChST. Tropical Storm force winds are no longer expected for Tinian, Saipan, or surrounding waters. A tropical storm warning remains in effect for Guam and Rota. A tropical storm warning means that tropical storm conditions including winds of 39 mph or greater are imminent or occurring this morning. Residents of Yap and Ulithi should carefully monitor the progress of Tropical Storm Man-yi. SUMMARY OF 700 AM CHST...2100 UTC...INFORMATION ----------------------------------------------- Location...12.9N 144.4E About 50 miles southwest of Guam About 105 miles south-southwest of Rota About 165 miles south-southwest of Tinian About 175 miles south-southwest of Saipan About 370 miles east-northeast of Ulithi About 490 miles east-northeast of Yap About 775 miles east-northeast of Koror Maximum sustained winds...50 mph Present movement...southwest...235 degrees at 18 mph DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 700 AM CHST...2100 UTC...the center of Tropical Storm Man-yi was located near Latitude 12.9 degrees North and Longitude 144.4 degrees East. Man-yi is moving southwest at 18 mph. It is expected to turn toward the west with a slight decrease in forward speed through Thursday. Maximum sustained winds remain at 50 mph. Man-yi is forecast to intensify through Thursday, possibly becoming a typhoon just north of Yap. Tropical storm force winds extend outward from the center up to 85 miles. NEXT ADVISORY ------------- An intermediate advisory will be issued by the National Weather Service at 1100 AM ChST followed by the next scheduled advisory at 200 PM ChST. $$ Stanko
