DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK

At 100 PM CHST...0300 UTC...the center of Tropical Storm Podul
was located near Latitude 21.6 degrees North and Longitude 142.4
degrees East, northwest of Farallon de Pajaros, the northernmost
island in the Marianas. Podul is moving west-northwest at 7 mph,
away from the Marianas. It is expected to make a slight turn
toward the west with an increase in forward speed through Sunday.
This forecast track would take Podul into the Philippine Sea.

Maximum sustained winds have increased to 60 mph. Podul is
forecast to intensify into a strong tropical storm tonight,
possibly becoming a typhoon Sunday.

Tropical storm force winds extend outward from the center up to
60 miles.
