...TROPICAL DISTURBANCE TO GENERATE HEAVY SHOWERS AND GUSTY WINDS
ACROSS THE FSM...

A broad tropical disturbance, Invest 90W, is slowly organizing
southwest of Pohnpei/southeast of Chuuk near Nukuoro. This
disturbance will remain quasi-stationary for the next 24 to 48 hours
as it slowly develops. Early this weekend, 90W may lift northward
somewhere between Chuuk and Pohnpei.

This disturbance is generating numerous to widespread showers,
isolated thunderstorms and gusty winds across Chuuk and eastern Yap
States. These conditions will shift northward in the coming days.
Sustained winds of 15 to 20 mph, with gusts to 30 mph are possible.

POTENTIAL RAINFALL TOTALS FRIDAY THROUGH MONDAY (JULY 17-20):

Chuuk: 5 to 8 inches
Namoluk: 4 to 7 inches
Losap: 4 to 7 inches
Fananu:5 to 8 inches
Onoun:4 to 7 inches
Polowat: 4 to 7 inches
Pikelot: 3 to 6 inches
Satawal:3 to 6 inches
Olimarao 3 to 6 inches
Gaferut: 3 to 6 inches
Ifalik: 2 to 5 inches
Faraulep: 2 to 5 inches

Locally heavier rainfall is possible depending on the evolution of
Invest 90W in the coming days. Residents across the FSM should keep
up to date with weather forecasts from NWS Guam at
www.weather.gov/gum, and for additional information from both, your
local Weather Service Office and Disaster Coordination Office in
Yap and Chuuk.

For those planning inter-island travel in the next couple of days,
know the weather conditions before you go, and/or consider postponing
travel until conditions improve.
