Palau and Yap are both entering a monsoonal surge. This surge is
expected to bring winds of 20 to 30 mph (15 to 25 knots) with gusts
up to 40 mph (35 knots)are possible. The strength of this surge will
be dependent on how strong the series of tropical disturbances to
the north will be. Rains with this event are anticipated to be about
a 2 to 4 inches for Palau and Yap about 3 to 5 inches through
Wednesday, with the potential to have more depending on the
development of the monsoon surge. Swells are expected to rise a few
days into this event and will likely bring seas up to at least 10
feet. In anticipation of these winds a Small Craft Advisory has been
issued for Palau starting Sunday and Yap starting Sunday evening.
Surf along north and west facing reefs may become hazardous during
this event, reaching to at least 9 feet.

Residents across the Palau and Yap region should continue to monitor
local weather forecasts the next several days from the National
Weather Service in Guam, and for additional information from your
local Weather Service Office and emergency management. Visit
weather.gov/gum/PublicForecasts for the latest weather information
from the National Weather Service.
