Tropical Storm Fung-Wong is now northwest or Yap and is moving westward further into the Philippine Sea and away from Yap State. Satellite-derived winds show moderate to fresh winds (15-20 kt) south to southeast winds across eastern Yap State. Tropical storm-force winds are no longer occurring at Yap Proper, and are now southwest to south winds of 20 to 30 kt winds near Yap Proper. Winds will gradually continue to improve tonight and Saturday, with the background trade-wind pattern eventually extending back across the region. Seas and surf will remain elevated across eastern Yap State as the swell from Fung-wong will continue to impact the region for the next few days. As Fung-wong continues to move away from the region, this swell will slowly diminish and be replaced by the background trade-wind swell. Minor coastal inundation is still possible due to the elevated King Tide cycle, but risk of inundation will decrease by the end of the weekend or early this upcoming week. This will be the last Special Weather Statement issued for the outer islands of Yap State.
