...TROPICAL DEPRESSION 32W TO BRING HEAVY DOWNPOURS AND STRONG WINDS
ACROSS YAP STATE...

Tropical Depression 32W remains poorly organized, although it does
seem to be slowly consolidating. Over the past several hours, TD
32W has shown a slight eastward drift. 32W still has a large central
region of weak winds. Over the next 48 hours, 32W is expected to
move northwest, then make a slight turn toward the west-northwest.
This general forecast track will take TD 32W not very far north of
Fais and Ulithi. A tropical storm warning remains in effect for Fais
and Ulithi. In the meantime, a tropical storm watch has been issued
for Faraulep. Damaging winds could start at Faraulep Thursday
morning should 32W intensify quicker and move slower than currently
expected. For that reason of lesser certainty, a watch was issued
rather than a warning, which would convey a certainty of such
conditions.

Widespread heavy showers and isolated thunderstorms will continue to
form across western and central Yap state, while gradually moving
out of eastern Yap state over the next 24-36 hours. If 32W should
take a more westerly track, watches may be necessary for Yap Island,
and typhoon conditions could come within range of Fais and Ulithi.
Winds of 25 to 35 mph with gusts to 45 mph and seas up to 14 ft around
32W will make inter-island travel treacherous across all of Yap
state, and it should be delayed until conditions settle back down if
at all possible. Surf will be elevated due to the background westerly
swell from the monsoon pattern and swell being generated from TD
32W. Elevated surf, along with elevated high tides around the full
moon tonight, may lead to minor splashup/runup on beaches, mainly
along south and west facing shores.

Residents and mariners should monitor the latest forecasts for the
region at weather.gov/gum/PublicForecasts and any information shared
by WSO Yap for their local regions.

For more information on Tropical Depression 32W please see bulletins
issued by the Joint Typhoon Warning Center under WMO header WTPN32
PGTW and the National Weather Service WMO headers WTPQ32 and WTPQ82
PGUM.
