139 WTPQ82 PGUM 070735 HLSPQ2 URGENT - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED TROPICAL CYCLONE LOCAL STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE TIYAN GU 535 PM ChST Fri Nov 7 2025 ...TROPICAL STORM WARNING CANCELLED FOR YAP PROPER... .NEW INFORMATION... The Tropical storm Warning for Yap Proper is no longer in effect as of 500 PM CHST. .AREAS AFFECTED... This local statement provides information and recommended action for people on Yap Proper. .WATCHES/WARNINGS... The Tropical Storm Warning has been cancelled for Yap Proper. A Small Craft Advisory, High Surf Advisory, and Coastal Flood Advisory, remain in effect for Yap Proper. .STORM INFORMATION... Tropical Storm Fung-wong (32W) is currently located near 11.6 degrees north latitude, and 136.6 degrees east longitude. This is about 175 miles northwest of Yap, 240 miles northwest of Ulithi, and 295 miles west-northwest of Fais. Fung-wong`s maximum sustained winds remain at 65 mph. .SITUATION OVERVIEW... Tropical Storm Fung-wong is moving northwest at 12 mph. It is expected to turn toward the west with a slight increase in forward speed through Saturday. Fung-wong is expected to continue to intensify and could become a typhoon tonight. Yap Proper is no longer experiencing sustained tropical storm- force winds, but heavy showers in the outer rain bands are still producing periods of heavy showers and strong gusty winds. TS Fung-wong will continue to move away from Yap Proper with conditions expected to gradually improve across Yap Proper tonight and Saturday. .PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Remain in a sturdy shelter and do not leave shelter until instructed to do so by emergency management or local officials. Sufficient food and water for each person for a day should be available as strong monsoonal winds and gusts will likely continue for a day after Tropical Storm Fung-wong moves off to the west-northwest. .NEXT UPDATE... This will be the last local statement issued by the National Weather Service, Tiyan Guam. ...YAP PROPER... ...TROPICAL STORM WARNING IS CANCELLED... .PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Remain in a sturdy shelter until the all clear has been given by your local emergency management officials. It is important to actively listen for forthcoming information from the National Weather Service and your local emergency management offices. Heavy rains and strong winds will continue in the monsoon surge even as Tropical Storm Fung-wong continues to move away to the west-northwest. .WIND INFORMATION... Wind radii forecasts and satellite-derived winds indicate Yap Proper is no longer within the 39 mph wind field of Tropical Storm Fung-wong. Winds will remain breezy to windy with monsoonal flow behind Fung- wong keeping winds elevated around 25 to 35 mph tonight, with stronger gusts in heavy showers and thunderstorms. Winds will decrease even further Saturday through Sunday as winds slowly turn from the south to the southeast. .COASTAL INUNDATION AND SURF INFORMATION... Hazardous surf of 10 to 14 feet is expected along west and south facing reefs, with surf subsiding along north facing reefs. Surf will start to decrease as Fung-wong moves away from Yap to the west- northwest but will likely remain near hazardous levels of 9 feet Saturday through Sunday due to swells generated by Fung-wong and the monsoon pattern. There will also be above-normal King Tides. Inundation of around 1 to 2 feet is possible, mainly along windward facing shorelines. Seas are around 10 to 13 feet and will remain choppy even as Fung-wong moves away. Seas will start to decrease tonight as the winds decrease but expected to remain choppy and around hazardous levels of 10 feet through at least Saturday. .OTHER STORM EFFECTS... Periods of heavy showers and thunderstorms will continue through tonight and potentially Saturday before tapering down Saturday night and Sunday. 3 to 5 inches of additional rainfall is possible through Sunday. $$ Williams
