The Tropical Storm Watch for Agrihan, Pagan, and Alamagan has been cancelled. .AREAS AFFECTED... This local statement provides information and recommended actions for people on Agrihan, Pagan and Alamagan in the Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas. .WATCHES/WARNINGS... The Tropical Storm Watch for Agrihan, Pagan, and Alamagan has been cancelled. .STORM INFORMATION... At 100 PM CHST...0300 UTC...the center of Tropical Storm Podul was located near Latitude 20.4 degrees North and Longitude 145.4 degrees East. This is about 115 miles north of Agrihan. Podul is moving northwest at 9 mph. Maximum sustained winds have increased to 50 mph. .SITUATION OVERVIEW... TS 16W will continue to move away from Agrihan, Pagan or Alamagan. Nevertheless, the next 12 to 24 hours will see surges of heavy showers and gusty winds within the west winds feeding into 16W. .PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Remain in shelter until the all clear is given by emergency management officials. Heavy rainfall, gusty winds and hazardous surf and seas will continue through Saturday. .NEXT UPDATE... This will be the last local statement by the National Weather Service in Tiyan for TS Podul, unless conditions change. ...AGRIHAN...PAGAN AND ALAMAGAN... ...TROPICAL STORM WATCH IS CANCELLED... .PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Remain in shelter until the all clear is given by emergency management officials. Heavy rainfall, gusty winds and hazardous surf and seas will continue through Saturday. Heed the advice of your local emergency management officials. .WIND INFORMATION... The latest forecast track, as of 1 PM ChST, shows Tropical Storm 16W north of Maug this afternoon. This reduces the threat of tropical storm force winds enough to allow the Tropical Storm Watch to be cancelled for all three islands. The islands should still anticipate strong gusty winds through the night and into Saturday. Southwest to west winds 20 to 25 mph with gusts to 35 mph through tonight, shifting to the south and decreasing late tonight into Saturday. .STORM SURGE AND SURF INFORMATION... Surf will continue slowly subside over the next couple of days, though surf will remain hazardous through Saturday afternoon. Surf will then begin to decrease. Rip currents will be strong and life threatening through Saturday. Stay out of the water. Minor wind and wave-driven coastal inundation is no longer expected. .OTHER STORM EFFECTS... Periods of heavy showers and thunderstorms will persist through at least tonight before tapering off Saturday.
