850 FXZS60 NSTU 070054 AFDPPG Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Pago Pago AS 154 PM SST Sat Jun 6 2026 .DISCUSSION... Fair weather patterns continue to remain over the islands as a high pressure system to the southeast continues to migrate further east. This pattern is expected to remain over the area through at least midweed; isolated to scattered showers with a gentle to moderate east-southeast breeze. Model data show the winds increasing to a fresh south-southeast breeze on Tuesday night, peaking at near gale force winds by Thursday through Friday. This increased wind pattern is generated by another strong high pressure system from the southwest moving eastward. As the latter high pressure system move eastward, bonadary layers/lines will move across the islands, increasing the potential for showers from time to time throughout this time period. Also shown on the model solutions is a trough to the north, migrating southward starting Thursday night and increasing flash flooding potential through the weekend. Therefore, expect numerous to widespread showers with gusty winds for the second half of the new week. && .Marine... Favorable ocean conditions remain over the area as east-southeast winds decrease to a gentle to moderate breeze. These conditions are expected to continue through at least Tuesday. By Tuesday night, a large south-southwest swell will reach American Samoa shorelines, building seas and surfs to advisory thresholds, and possibly reaching warning levels by the end of the forecast period. The hazardous seas are likely generated by the strong to near gale force south to southeast winds expected over the area at this time frame. In the meantime, the advisory for small crafts is now cancelled. && .PPG WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES... Small Craft Advisory cancelled. && $$ JTAllen
